AssistantAI Review: An Honest Breakdown From the Inside

Cal Bosard March 26, 2026 7 min read

Why Write a Review of My Own Product?

Look, I know how this reads. The founder writing a review of his own thing. But here is my logic: most review sites either have not used AssistantAI or are writing SEO filler to rank affiliate links. I actually know what the product does, what it does not do, and who should probably skip it entirely.

My name is Cal Bosard. I built AssistantAI to solve a specific problem I kept seeing: professionals drowning in email who could not afford (or did not want) a full-time human assistant. The product has been live since early 2026, and I have enough data now to give you the real picture.

What AssistantAI Actually Does

At its core, AssistantAI is a done-for-you AI email management service. That distinction matters. It is not an app you download and configure yourself. Here is what happens:

  • You connect your Gmail or Outlook inbox (OAuth, read-only until you approve sends)
  • Our AI classifier reads every incoming email and sorts it by urgency, category, and required action
  • A draft writer generates responses in your voice, using your profession-specific context
  • You get a morning briefing: here is what came in, here is what we drafted, approve or edit
  • Nothing sends without your explicit approval

The "done-for-you" part means we handle the setup. We configure your AI voice profile, set your rules, train the system on your specific practice, and manage it ongoing. You do not touch a settings panel unless you want to.

Pricing Breakdown

This is where most people either lean in or bounce, so let me be direct:

PlanMonthly CostBest For
Solo$500/moSolo practitioners handling 30-80 emails/day
Growth$1,500/moSmall teams of 2-5 who share email workload
Executive$5,000/moFirms of 6-15 with complex communication needs
Enterprise$25,000/moLarge operations 16+ with multi-department workflows

Is $500/month cheap? No. But run the math: if you bill $200/hour and spend 6 hours a week on email, that is $4,800/month in lost billable time. Even if AssistantAI only saves you half of that, you are netting $1,900/month. The ROI calculator on our site lets you plug in your own numbers.

What It Does Well

Voice matching is genuinely good. The AI learns your writing style, and after a week of corrections, most clients say the drafts are 85-90% ready to send without edits. One attorney told me his paralegal could not tell which emails he wrote versus what the AI drafted.

Profession-specific intelligence. A response for a CPA during tax season is different from a response for a real estate agent during closing week. The system understands those differences because we built role-specific classifiers for each profession we serve.

The morning briefing is the killer feature. Instead of opening your inbox to 47 unread messages, you get a summary: 3 urgent items needing your attention, 12 drafts ready to approve, 8 items handled automatically (newsletters archived, spam filtered, duplicates merged). Most clients spend 15-20 minutes on what used to take 90 minutes.

What It Does Not Do Well (Yet)

Calendar management is basic. The AI can detect scheduling requests and flag them, but it cannot independently book meetings on your calendar yet. That is on the roadmap for Q3 2026.

Multi-language support is limited. It works well in English and is passable in Spanish. If you regularly communicate in other languages, you will find the draft quality drops significantly.

Onboarding takes effort. Even though we handle the setup, you still need to spend 2-3 hours in the first week reviewing and correcting drafts so the AI learns your style. Some people expect magic from day one. It is more like day five.

Who Should Use It

AssistantAI works best for professionals who:

  • Handle 40+ emails per day and most are client communication
  • Bill their time (so email hours have a real dollar cost)
  • Need responses that sound professional and personalized, not like templates
  • Want a human team managing the AI, not another SaaS tool to figure out

Our strongest verticals right now: attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, and real estate agents.

Who Should Skip It

If you get fewer than 20 emails a day, the math does not work at $500/month. If your emails are mostly internal team communication, you probably need Slack, not an AI email tool. If you are looking for a DIY solution you can tinker with, check out Superhuman or Sanebox instead.

The Bottom Line

AssistantAI is not the cheapest option and it is not the flashiest. It is the option for professionals who value their time at a premium and want someone else to handle the email problem entirely. If that sounds like you, it will probably pay for itself within the first month. If it does not, we will tell you that upfront.
